Another Day, Another Win

The Braves beat Venezuela today in a game that was helping them get prepared for the World Baseball Classic, which is now undergo.
We had Derek Lowe to start the game and he had a decent game. He pitched 3 innings of no-hit ball, but he allowed a run because of walks, wild pitches, and a stolen base. It was all good on the pitching side until Jeff Ridgway came in the game. Let’s just say it got bad.

Hitting-wise, we looked average. Nobody got more than one hit the whole game. Jeff Francoeur hit a home run off of Brad Nelson who was loaned from the Braves for the day. It’s not very impressive, but it is a homer nevertheless. Diory Hernandez, Freedie Freeman, and Barbaro Canizares hit doubles while Omar Infante got the lone single. Here is the box for the hitting.

Besides the walks, looks like Lowe had a pretty nice outing. Like Julia said, he’ll definitely settle in. Great acquisition for the Braves eh? Nice job keeping up with all the Braves players in the Classic! I’m excited!

Wow Darion, Baseball & soccer fan. My old boss at work is a Manchester United fan also. Soccer is about the only sport these two English men talk about, but one is a Dodger fan (Yeah!!) and a Laker fan.
    .
Always liked D.Lowe. He was always very nice with me. I have two baseballs that he threw at me, one at Dodger Stadium and one at Gnat Park.

I’m glad we drew 9 walks today. Walks turn into runs quickly. Encouraging. And Jeff Ridgeway is really, really bad. He’s allowed more runs than he’s recorded outs this spring. That’s bad.

    That’s very cool!

Drawing walks is always good. It might be a sign of patience, but it could also be a lack of accuracy for the other team’s pitchers as well. I hope it’s our patience that helped us walk 9 times. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Ridgway got cut, place on waivers, or traded. I don’t see an Atlanta future for him unless he really picks it up quickly while Bobby will still play him.
